Find All Command and Advanced Searches in Microsoft Excel 2007

In Microsoft Excel, you can use the Find All function to help narrow down the list of matches that you can find for a keyword that you enter. While the Find command helps you scroll through the worksheet one at a time, the Find All command helps show all matches in their exact location in the worksheet itself.

Follow the path: Home –> Find and Select –> Search –> Options –> Find All button, you will activate the Find All command. The Find All command will actually search the entire worksheet at once, so that it lists a list of matches for the user.

However, the Find All command does not guide you through each mail one by one. You have to select one of your preferences from the list of results, just click on a match and Microsoft Excel will take you there.

There are additional search options you can find when activating Options in the Find and Replace menu, the path is the same as activating the Find All command: Home — > Find and Select — > Find — > Options.

If you want to search different workbooks, you can select a workbook by going inside the box. By default it is to search by sheet, which is the active worksheet you are working on. By selecting the Workbook option, you are actually telling Microsoft Excel to search through each worksheet in the workbook.

If you want to change the direction of the search, you can change the option in the search box. By default, Microsoft Excel will search from one row to another through the worksheet. However, you can change the By Column option, which will change the direction of the search from row to column.

The Match Case check box will allow you to find an exact match of your search, including capitalization. For example, you want to find “table”, not “table”, you can click the check box and Microsoft Excel will ignore “table”, it will only show you all matches of “table” with “table”. or “table.

The Match all cell contents check box will allow you to find an exact match for the word you want to find. For example, if you want to find a place that contains “table”, Microsoft Excel will show you anywhere in the worksheet with a table as part of a sentence, such as “Table A”, “We have tables”, or “Table of priorities.”. If you check the Match all cell contents box, Microsoft Excel will find only contents that match the search terms. If you type “table”, Microsoft Excel will ignore “table A”, “we have tables”, or “table of priority”, and will only list the cell containing “table”.
